The Lone Duck
In an old countryside, near a small
town on the prairie, lies a small pond. There, lives a Duck. The duck swims and
fishes, alone, flies, alone, and quacks, alone. Each day, the duck spends most
of its time, looking at the dark sky, it’s cold and wet. As snow falls to the
ground, the duck remembers its fate leading up to this moment. It was mid-fall.
A duck flying with its companions from youth towards the south where it is
warm, as they were flying over a small town in the countryside. As they were
flying over a small pond, there was a crack in the air. The duck found itself
falling, as with some of its other companions. The Duck managed to fall into the
pond. Looking out, it sees the flock, flying away, half torn. Then as it went
black, it saw two tall figures, wandering through the grass, picking up bodies
of its companions. Then to its surprise, the duck awoke; now regretting that he
ever did.
