Text Structure (#2 Option)
Halo: First Strike.
Author's note. This is a piece about discussing the Main Conflicts in my Novel and if they are resolved in the end.
Halo: First Strike takes place in the year 2552, and it is about the events that take place after the Destruction of Halo from the original Xbox game Halo. The Covenant, a highly advanced race of extraterrestrials, are threatening the Human race to extinction. All the outer colonies have been destroyed by the Covenant, first Planet Harvest, Then Reach, Next was Onyx. Before Reach was overtaken, A ship called "The Pillar of Autumn" escaped from the Planet. They made a blind "Jump" and traveled through Slip-space. When they finished their "Jump" they found themselves seeing a forerunner artifact. Not man or Covenant made. They called it Halo. Soon after it soon leads to the events 3 weeks later inside a Longsword bomber.In space, the "Master Chief" and the Artificial intelligence Cortana, have successfully escaped the Destruction of Halo.
Now the Main conflict in this story, the Sequel, is that they have spotted Covenant Super carriers searching the Debris of the Halo Ring. After that they find a group of survivors in a Pelican Drop-ship. From there they get on the ship, and they preform a Suicide mission: Board the Covenant Carrier and use its Slip-space hardware to go to earth, when Chief suggests they go to Planet Reach, or what is left, and hope his squad is still alive. The Conflict does get solved for example, by the disguising themselves into a Covenant Drop-ship and going down to the Surface of reach. A message gets sent to John through his Helmet. It was a six tone beep. It was his squads sign for "Come out now, it's safe". That meant his team was alive. Now, after a long battle, and finding the Survivors, they find another Artifact, a Crystal as what it seemed.
When they escaped, A Covenant Ship was using a Gravity beam to keep John, his squadron, and the survivors from escaping. But then the Crystal seemed to open, and the Drop-ship started going up. When they were out of the Cave they rescued John's squad, there was 15 Super-Carriers. It was overkill, but Cortana arrived and picked them up. And went into slip-space and escaped. But now there is another Conflict. They aren't in slip-space, not in any slip-space they know of at least. It was the crystal. They didn't know why it did this, but they figured it altered space and time. So now there was yet another conflict. It was not solved. They did not know how it worked. So they kept it from the Covenant, knowing that they are looking for it. So now they are looking for it. They end up destroying the crystal, but it wasn't really planned. A former marine couldn't take his duty protecting the Crystal so he planted some C-17 on the crystal and detonated it. And he killed himself in the process. So in the end that Conflict is not really solved.
The Final Conflict was a new threat to everyone. The Covenant have located earth. It was solved though, but only delaying the Inevitable. How was it solved? A Covenant Space Station was meeting up with of Warships, Carriers and Super Carriers. The Mission was delayed due to a certain squadron destroying the Fusion reactor of the Station. They rush to escape, ending up in a death of a former Spartan. Grace, she was blown apart by a projectile grenade by the new species they encountered: Brutes. Her death wasn't in vain, In fact John set her armor to detonate in 30 seconds. Took down a group of 45 covenant troops, as soon as they escaped, they found their captured covenant carrier gone, but a UNSC ship. It turns out the Two civilians that were part of the group of survivors were a Admiral and a Lieutenant have taken the damaged captured ship and crashed it into the station. Then they had what seemed like the artifact. But a fake. Then as the ships closed it, the Reactor detonated. They pulled behind a moon for cover. They came back out. There was nothing. The ships that survived were severely damaged. Finally All the conflicts were solved. they headed to earth to warn everyone about the Covenant threat. Then it was over.
