The story "The lottery"  by Shirley Jackson, is a short story based on the time of the great depression. The story theme is Irony because of what happens in the book. How is the story Irony?
One theme for the short story "The Lottery"  is Irony. An example of this theme throughout the story is when How the main character, Tessie, is so excited to see who "wins" the lottery. But then she sees that her husband gets it, she gets mad and claims that "They didn't give him a chance to pick". Also another one good example would be when she gets picked, when she gets picked her friend who tells her to be quiet and it was fair, she ends up picking the largest stone to throw at Tessie.

Godzilla

Author’s Note: this piece was created to retell the events of the monster movie classic “Godzilla”

1954, during the First World War, Japan was testing nuclear bombs in the pacific. One was the H-bomb, an Atomic Bomb. After testing, the radiation had affected any living thing within a 10 mile radius. One of them was presumed to be a lizard, an iguana type animal. The radiation transformed it (The lizard)  into one of Japan’s worst nightmares, a monster, “Gojira”, A monster, 300 foot tall, with large spikes on its back, and the worst part, it could breathe a atomic “ray” that can send a force of an atomic bomb. What really happened the time when Godzilla was formed?

The main capital of Japan, Tokyo, after the first attack from Godzilla, a sea of fire from the monster’s havoc.  Then it disappeared into the depths of the pacific, where it rested in a trench. Since then until 1955 there have been many attacks from Godzilla, mostly attacking Power sources and nuclear plants. Why? Somehow, the energy given from those areas attracted Godzilla because Godzilla is made up of radiation, so it would think that there would be another let’s say Godzilla, and needed to protect his territory.

One day, a man named Dr. Serizawa invented something worse than the Atomic Bomb, the Oxygen destroyer. It lived up to its name. The chemical compound can destroy any oxygen within a large radius (Hasn’t been tested on land for obvious reasons) so when Godzilla headed into Tokyo bay once again from another attack, they dove after the beast.

The divers found Godzilla resting along the trench, they place the bomb and one of the divers went up, but Dr. Serizawa stayed down, saying “I will die with my work, so no more copies of this weapon or my knowledge can be used for weaponry”. So he cuts his line of air, and he set off the Oxygen destroyer, and Godzilla and Serizawa, were both disinagrated within seconds, and other livings under the water for a large radius. And all of the troubles are over. Japan is finally in peace, but Godzilla will forever be in everyone’s nightmares. This, is what the time when Godzilla was formed, and the citizens of Japan were affected by it.

The last living flower in the Garden

The sprout of my form to the end, it was the most beautiful experience. Seeing all of the others sprout, younger ones, and watching the scenery, of the many foothills of the land I was born on . But, as winter approached, I watched as so many of my brothers and sisters fall to the lack of sun. The soil is starting to harden, the rain is ever been so cold, the sun rises farther down to the ground, more night than day. I ever so has the luck for I have a clear view of the sun's rising and setting. I feel as if every night is my last when resting. My luck shall end when the first snowfall shall bury me from the sun's rays and into a frozen slumber. If only I had more time.
